FDC Ensemble

The FDC  Ensemble is an invitation only level at Florida Dance Conservatory. Students in this pre-professional division participate in an average of 10 hours of ballet/rehearsals per week, 2 hours of modern and are featured dancers in all of FDC’s performances. Students in this level are chosen by FDC’s Directors based on their technical ability, artistry, conduct and overall dedication. In addition to this, they must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to avoid suspension/expulsion from the ensemble program. Dancers also receive an evaluation in January from Mrs. Lescaille and Ms. Martin. The evaluation works as a progress report for them and tells the dancer where their strengths/weaknesses are.
Ensemble dancers range in ages 10 – 18 years of age (including FDC Youth Ensemble Apprentices). They are given the opportunity to perform year round in various festivals and community outreach performances throughout the season. Students are also able to create original choreography in FDC’s annual pasta dinner performance in April. This process allows the young dancers to step into a leadership position and learn to appreciate the craft of teaching, directing and choreographing.

Ensemble dancers also participate in an annual away trip each year. Last season, dancers attended the Young Dancers Workshop with Suzanne Farrell at FSU where they plan to attend again in February 2012. At FSU, dancers get to be a part of a collegiate dance experience and explore the option of obtaining a degree in dance.

The FDC Ensemble will perform in three performances at the Lake Worth Playhouse in October, December and June 2011-12. Performance details will posted under our latest events tab monthly.
